Accuracy at its best

Being in a fandom and not even knowing there’s a war going on…

all of this shit…lol

When You’re Not In The Fandom But You’re Nosy AF

When you get into a fandom only to discover it’s dead

This gets better every time I see it.

@fuboos-mess

Being in a dead fandom…

Or being in such a tiny fandom that it feels like youre the only one

The accuracy hurts.

When you’re in a fandom that got revived for a younger generation:

Omg

I actually fell over laughing

Being in a fandom that, by all accounts, should be dead but isn’t

it has been like at least eight years and sometimes I still think to myself, when I am tired, “but I am le tired… well then take a nap! AND THEN FIRE ZE MISSILES” even though in retrospect that is like one of the most embarrassingly unfunny videos to ever come out of the internet

tbh i still start sentences with “hokay, so” at least 3 times a day

same, aggressively so. I also still use “wtf, mate.”

#i have no idea what this is referring to#but i’m relieved to know i’m not the only one out there randomly quoting old internet videos#some shit is always hilarious to me (x)

OH MAN

LET ME LEARN YOU A THING

who doesn’t think this is STILL AS HILARIOUS as it was when we all watched it over and over and over again 15 years ago?

My husband and I still quote this to this day.

I give the full “hokey, so… here’s the earth” whenever I’m stumbling over my words or trying to figure out what to say.

AND WHO SAYS THIS VIDEO ISN’T FUNNY!?!?!?!?  I WILL FIGHT YOU!

What the fuck kind of a heretic doesn’t think this is funny?

HOLY SHIT I REMEMBER THIS

Never forget.

I also quote this a lot and people look at me like I’m nuts

h’okay so…

The nuclear family is probably the greatest enabler of child abuse, ever.

Putting two people in complete control of another person (who is particularly vulnerable and has few legal rights) and then having no oversight for the whole arrangement is the absolute worst idea.

Families are garbage.

Hahaha wtf

I wouldn’t even know where to start with this. omg.

OP, what would you propose as an alternative to families?

communal child raising

less isolated familial structures in general

children being made aware of how they should and shouldn’t be treated

Some form of child protection services that don’t just believe the parents and assume a child is lying when they report abuse

more legal and counselling services made available to children

I don’t get people that are like “lol, what? that’s so weird, lets laugh at the very notion that traditional families are abusive”.

communal child raising is the traditional family. 70-100 years ago 4 generations lived together in the same house, having 4 grandparents, 6 aunts and 15 cousins around every day was normal.

Things that should be mentioned:

– These communities are not necessarily connected by an biological ties. In a lot of these multigenerational ‘families’, including people in the family who are not relatives or married into the family is totally normal. This has always created a lot more space to support people without families, support people who do now want to partner up and to create communities in which couples who can not have children (like some queer couples but not all & other couples too) can be a part of child raising.

– Having a lot more young people around often means young people learn from each other. In many cultures young people form a non-hierarchial group that learns together and can do a great deal without adult supervision.

The nuclear family doesn’t just facilitate abuse, it facilitates hierarchy. It’s a training school for obedience to authority.

Now, which system would push such a training school strongly so it could get docile obedient citizens? Which system whould push the nuclear family.

I’m not saying it’s capitalism but it’s capitalism.

And then there’s the fact that the 2 parent, nuclear family can be most easily pushed into the pattern where one adult works an extremely exhausting job many hours a day that leaves that adult hardly capable of doing anything else, while the other adult takes on all the other things that adult would otherwise have done: care for children, clean the living space, prepare food, prepare clean clothing, etc. for free. What we know as traditional gender roles.

This way capitalism gets one intensely loyal worker who feels ‘responsible’ for ‘supporting a family’ while all the work to keep that worker going is done for free by an unpaid worker in the home.

And, you know, communities need a lot less stuff. A community of 50 can do just fine with one or two hammers. 25 nuclear families need 25 hammers. The nuclear family demands a huge amount of commodity purchasing.

(hooboy that last point)

not to mention, humans are instinctively tribal. we evolved to live in bands of around 10-30 people. and yet somehow we’re being sold the idea that we ought to prefer a family structure better to an albatross: parents get together, raise children until the children can survive on their own, and kick the kids out.

no one is able to thrive on their own at eighteen, but somehow we all end up blaming ourselves for working minimum wage and living in shitholes after we ‘fly the nest’. hmm.

and what happens to that tribal instinct when you don’t have a tribe? well, manipulative people use it to harness you to pull their loads. the corporation, the political party, the school, the state, the race, the religion – these replace the tribe, but in most cases badly. they aren’t mutual. they don’t give back.

that’s why i keep asking people: whose personal army are you?

because if you don’t have a tribe, chances are you’re somebody’s minion, whether you know it or not. you had a handle sticking out there and someone has probably grabbed it and steered you around by it. who are you loyal to? who do you place above yourself?

ALRIGHT THANKS FOR ASKING FRIENDS I AM NOW HAPPY TO TELL YOU
ABOUT MURASAKIBARA AND BABIES!!

OK, so, in that story, I was working with the idea that the
Miracles are all aware that they are genetically designed super-humans and are
just physically stronger than average humans, or at least, (since Kuroko and
Momoi are not physically stronger) *designed* sturdier. All of them know that
they are built to last, so to speak, and that it actually takes quite a lot of
effort before you can damage a Miracle.

So they never really had a childhood, and never really
associated being a child with
something that is vulnerable because
they never were (vulnerable, that is). So when they see babies (which they previously had never seen
in Teiko) it’s like, “holy crap everything can break this small innocent
breakable creature” and they’re a little freaked out by it.

But for Murasakibara, who is always
stronger than everything it’s no big
deal. At any given moment, if he’s not being very careful with his own
strength, he could accidentally damage anyone (even other Projects) without
even trying. So he’s always careful with his own strength around everyone, so it’s not especially
unusually for him to deal with tiny vulnerable breakable things because
compared to him, everything is a tiny vulnerable breakable thing.

Also, I just headcanon Murasakibara as good with kids in general,
because I think it is adorable.

A few bonus headcanons about the woman who randomly left her two
children with Murasakibara:

  • She is a huge Miracle fan, HUGE.
  • She has t-shirts with their faces on them, stalks the fan forums
    (contributes to the fan forums!)
  • Was out there protesting against the protesters during that
time with the Special Diet, advocating for their rights.
  • She saw Murasakibara and immediately ran over to take a selfie
    with him.
  • She had to go back in because she left her wallet in the
store, so she left her kids with him (because he’s a Miracle, and she loves
    them).
  • Those children are going to grow up forever hearing the
story about that time they were held by a Miracle. She has photographic
evidence that this occurred, and will spend YEARS showing this photo to
    everyone.
