y’all are always going on about how jamie benn was drafted 129th overall and how he’s developed into one of the best players in the league and i get so confused because henrik zetterberg was drafted 210th overall and he has a stanley cup ring, conn smythe and king clancy and is one of the best players in the league

Hank is amazing and all, but Pavel Datsyuk was drafted 171st overall, has 2 Stanley Cup rings, 3 Selke trophies, and 4 Lady Byng trophies. I know he’s playing in the KHL now, but you can never have a more successful draft story over Datsyuk. 

I love Hank and Pav so much and their stories are amazing but if we’re going to throw some names in the rink here. Tomas Holmstrom was drafted by the wings  257th over all. Has two gold medals and won 4 Stanley cups with this team, and personally in my opinion was one of the most under rated players to ever lace skates in the nhl. The season he had in 2008 with out him we probably wouldn’t have won that cup, he put up 12 incredibly vital points in the playoff run. 6th in most games played in a Red Wings Jersey. 4th in Playoff games played and 13th in points scored. Also Vladimir Konstantinov was an 11th round draft pick.
