okay so i’m rambling and this probably won’t make much sense but i kinda wanna ask anyway

i wonder how different fandom is for people depending on the age they found/entered it

bc for me i stumbled into fandom at a very young age. i’ve almost grown up with fandom. it’s been something that’s helped me through mental illness and social isolation, has influenced how i critique media, shaped my worldview. i can’t really imagine the person i would have been very well if i hadn’t found fandom. fandom has in a way shaped me and how i consume and react and think about all media in a very profound way.

i think it was inevitable, too. considering my personality and tastes if i hadn’t found fandom when i did it was only a matter of time.

fandom is almost – a part of me. it’s in my bones, it’s an essential part of my makeup, it’s lead me to so many different things that have affected me and changed me (music, books, other media, politics, social justice, psychology, sexuality, relationships, gender, cultures, language) at a very young age for a very long time.

what’s it like for people who entered fandom when they were older? when they had already developed a lot as a person? i grew up with fandom, but what is someone’s experience with fandom when they found it at an older age? how does it feel? what is different?

fandom is…not easy, but there, for me. it’s almost always existed for me and i can’t imagine what it would be like without it. i’ve grown with it. we’ve grown together.

what’s it like to experience fandom in a way other than that?

i currently have 35 tabs open in one window on my computer and it’s hard to tell which is which and to navigate

meanwhile on my phone i have 51 tabs open and it’s easy to navigate and i know what each one is

it pisses me off that i might be or someone implies that i’m one of those soft tender people who feel a lot of things all the time and have thin skin and cry over relatively unserious things

ive spent a lot of time being a person who can take a lot of shit and be an immovable object when it comes to things

i dont want that to all be just my depression or trauma goddamnit

if takao has the hawk eye

and izuki has the eagle eye

shouldn’t this have happened before? shouldn’t seirin be aware that there’s a possibility someone could see kuroko even with misdirection? eagle eye can’t see as much as hawk eye yeah but izuki can still see a significant part of the court.

maybe i’m just not remembering it properly.

so like maybe i’m wrong but how much wider is the hawk eye’s field of vision than eagle eye? like. seirin still has izuki’s eagle eye so it’s not like it’ll be super easy to bypass it even if the range is smaller.

note also that rakuzan didn’t use misdirection against shuutoku bc of takao’s hawk eye and seirin has. rakuzan is less creative with their plays. seirin has used misdirection to keep takao’s attention on kuroko to bypass it while rakuzan didn’t. does that say more about mayuzumi’s ability to use misdirection, rakuzan’s general playstyle and strategy, or their confidence in their ability to defeat their opponents? or all three?

where are all the substitutions, knb

so ive gone to some high school basketball games (not in japan, in america, so if the stuff i’m talking about is significantly different please disregard this post) lately and there’s A LOT of substitutions.

like, practically every couple of minutes. not so much in the first quarter but as the game goes on it happens more often.

so…why arent more people switching in and out in knb? it would be a great way to develop more of the non-starter characters especially in seirin. you know, a good way to see how seirin did so well with a team made up only of freshman and the first year a school has existed. and it would have avoided the whole “lets put someone w hardly any development in one of the finals to do something that’s not been talked about before (furihata slowing the kaijou game down in the winter cup)

in addition, i’ve been told that a key part of the run-and-gun strategy that seirin does when kiyoshi comes back is switching people out a lot so there’s always fresh people on offense.

so i’m debating on whether or not i should just headcanon that people are being pulled in and out of the game constantly but we just happen to see the parts where only the starters are in…
