It is important to
Midorima that Takao knows he is not ashamed of him. He doesn’t know the full
specifics, but he understands that this was (in varying degrees) a factor into
why Takao’s previous two relationships ended.
“Yamamoto is a good
guy,” Takao explained once, “And it was probably unfair of me to break up with
him. I just didn’t want to be someone else’s dirty little secret again, you
know?”
Midorima still
remembered the night Takao explained about how his middle school romance ended,
and how furious he’d felt about that. He didn’t know how Takao could talk about
it so easily now, how he didn’t seem to wish any of them harm, despite the fact
that Midorima was all too happy to hurt them. It bothered Midorima a whole lot
that anyone could do that to Takao, to the point where he still wishes
he could hurt everyone who had hurt his boyfriend.
But that’s not what
Takao wanted. What Takao wanted was to make sure it didn’t happen again,
and Midorima will make sure it never happens again.
He’s just not sure if
he’s doing it right.
*
They don’t tell their
parents. First because Takao had said, “Oh God, Mom is going to gloat forever
if she finds out,” and Midorima had pictured having this conversation with Dr.
Kishitani and it had all seemed far too embarrassing.
(Then it became clear
that Dr. Kishitani was dating Takao’s mother, and all things considered, maybe
it was best if they continued to not tell their respective parental
figures about their relationship).
And this is something
they mutually agreed upon but it still makes Midorima wonder if Takao feels
like Midorima is hiding his relationship from his guardian. He worries a lot
about whether or not this is something that bothers Takao.
*
To compensate, they
don’t hide it at school. Not that they do anything different at school than
they ever did before they started dating (although, since everyone seemed to
think they were dating before they started dating, maybe they didn’t need to do
anything different), but if anyone asked, Midorima made sure to always respond
truthfully that they were dating.
“You’re usually such a
tsundere, Shin-chan,” Takao teases after the first time he hears Midorima
declare, “Yes, Takao and I are involved romantically,” to someone’s question. “I
can’t believe you just came out and said that.”
“I don’t know what
you’re talking about,” Midorima says, “I am always very open about my
feelings.”
He’s not quite sure
why Takao laughed at him.
*
They go everywhere
together, with Takao often driving Midorima in his rickshaw, and that doesn’t
feel like they’re hiding anything although Midorima is not entirely sure how
much of a couple they look.
But it is important to
him that Takao knows that Midorima would never hide him, would never make him
his secret, so one day they’re out in the mall and Midorima decides, To hell
with it, and he kisses Takao right there where everyone can see.
He does not expect
Takao to pull back, beet red, sputtering, “Shin-chan! Wh-what—?” and then eyes
him suspiciously and says, “What’s your sign?”
“Pineapples!” Midorima
says, indignantly, remembering their long ago code, “Exactly when would I have
been switched out for Kise or a clone?”
“I don’t know but I’m
not ruling anything out,” Takao says, still blushing. “What is with you?”
Midorima scowls
because this is all incredibly unfair. “I just wanted you to know. That I’m not
hiding you. Or anything.”
Takao buries his face
in his hands and Midorima wonders if maybe he did something wrong but then
Takao looks up and says, “OK, my boyfriend is adorable. Also, not hiding does
not mean making out in public, we are Japanese, not Americans, come on,
Shin-chan. Further also, we need to go home right now where I can make out with
you properly and maybe take off your clothes.”
“Don’t be so
shameless, Takao,” Midorima says, his turn to blush.
“Oh, you never get to
accuse me of shamelessness ever again, stud,” Takao says, dragging him by his
collar.
Ahahaha,
OK, I had to put some thought into this. So. In order from Most Jealous to
Least.
Miracles:
KISE
– There is never any doubt. He is super jealous all the time and is not ashamed
to make sure *everyone* knows it.
Akashi
– Almost as jealous/possessive as Kise, but very much doesn’t want people to
know that (having perceived Kise’s jealousy as character flaw/weakness, he does
not like to think he has the same character flaw/weakness.)
Murasakibara
– If Kise and Akashi are at like, 10, there’s probably a big gap between them
and the rest and Murasakibara is around at a 5? It doesn’t bother him that Himuro has
dated other people and he’s not the kind of person who would get upset if other
people were talking to Himuro, but if he thought someone was actually trying to
take Himuro away he would go full on “crush everything” mode.
Aomine
– similar to Murasakibara; pretty low key about it unless he thought someone
was actually moving in on Momoi. Or if Momoi was gleefully talking about the
virtues of dating someone else =D He’s also at about a 5.
Midorima
– Probably a 3? He’s fairly low key but occasionally can get jealous.
Kuroko
– Doesn’t typically get jealous.
Hinata –
(not sure if you wanted Hinata, but sometimes people don’t like when I leave
Hinata off the list) – Never gets jealous. Thinks too much about volleyball;
knows Kageyama thinks too much about volleyball.
Miracle
Boyfriends:
Himuro
– Hahaha, I always figure he is the most jealous; very much likes having all of
Murasakibara’s attention, but he is super subtle about it and most people don’t
typically realize.
Takao
– Can get fairly jealous, but also hides it much more subtly than, say, Kise
does.
Momoi
– Not a Miracle Boyfriend, but since I included Aomine I thought I’d include
her. She can get very possessive =D
Furihata
– Gets more insecure than jealous, but maybe his jealousy level is around 2?
Kagami
– Doesn’t typically get jealous.
Kasamatsu
– Never gets jealous. (Kise really wishes he would get more jealous.)
Kageyama
– Thinks too much about volleyball; knows Hinata thinks too much about
volleyball =D
Thanks again for the question, anon-friend!! I figure, most of the Miracles tend to get more jealous because they aren’t used to having people they care about and so they don’t always know how to react about that. I think they all probably mellow out as they get older/more confident in their relationships.
I have, anon-friend, thanks for asking! Although like I said in my last
post on Gold it’s mostly only gone to the extent of, “they’d both be
dating Furihata, and they all lived happily ever after, the end.”
And
really, it’s mostly been in conjunction with the AU to the AU (that I
am NOT!! going to write!!! As someone pointed out, it’s probably best
not to go down the route of writing the Darkest Timeline) that I’ve
discussed here about an AU where they didn’t escape when they were 13
and met up with the boyfriends while they were still in Teiko. And
woohoo, that is the Darkest Timeline and best not considered, really.
Although,
I do think it would be interesting if Gold *had* escaped with the rest
of the Miracles, because in does make me wonder if maybe Akashi would
have hated humans less if he hadn’t blamed them for Gold’s death. And if
Akashi had someone who grounded and supported him from the beginning,
what that might have done to the group dynamics.
It’s
also fun to think about Masaomi adopting them as twins. I think he’d
really enjoy having a son who could read minds and get premonitions.
(That would mean Gold was the only Miracle who didn’t have his color in
his last name, though. So maybe he gets adopted by someone else? Or
maybe he just decides to keep his gold-themed last name despite the
adoption, just to be contrary.)
In terms of
concluding “they’d both be dating Furihata” I did think it would make
sense that Gold actually pursues him first, because he would have
realized instantly that Furihata was immune (not being able to read his
mind) and probably would have approached him first. And while Akashi
might not have hated humans *as much* I always sorta figured Gold was
the more tolerant of the two, which would mean he’d be more interesting
in pursuing romance. Which is a fun thing to consider.
Also, @shortwhiteafrican brought up the fact that Kyo would completely lose his
mind at the idea of his little brother dating twin super rich athletic
gorgeous mutants, and I hadn’t even thought about that, and now that’s
all I can think about. I almost feel like this needs to happen purely so
Kyo can freak out over his previous baby brother dating murder twins.
(It’s still not going to happen, but it’s been so much fun to think
about).
So I’ve been wanting to draw the #MiracleBoyfriendsClub from @umisabaku‘s Designation:Miracle for a while and then Mikki mentioned they wanted to see the photo so my productivity took a boost!!
