gospel around his fingers

sinbinhagelin:

Dex slams the door shut and presses against the wood, leaning his head back and sucking in a deep breath. He stares blindly up at the ceiling and–

“Nurse, I dare you to kiss the prettiest person in the room. Not counting me.” Lardo pretends to flip a lock of hair over her shoulder. “We all know I’d smoke you bitches,” she adds, grinning. Her teeth flash in the low lighting, and she knocks back the last of her drink as the gather group lets out joking boos.

They all “ooh” at Nursey as he raises a challenging eyebrow and smirks at Lardo. He makes a show of looking around the room, leering slightly at the other players of spin the bottle – Holster, Dex, Tango, Ollie, Wicks, and a few members of the volleyball and soccer teams. Bitty is grinning from his spot on the floor next to Lardo and Dex, watching as Nursey catches the eye of each person.

“Dex!” The memory is abruptly interrupted as Chowder’s voice comes from beyond the door. “Come on, man!” Dex tries to straighten up, but his legs refuse to work. He sinks down to the floor, back still pressed against the door, trying to suck in deep breaths of air. He drops his head between his knees, squeezing his eyes shut and–

Reblog and you might save someone’s life, especially with all our Black Girls going missing #ProtectBlackGirls #SaveLife

For those who don’t know what’s happening in the video, she untied her shoelaces, pulled one through the inside of the zip tie binding her hands, then tied the shoelaces together. Then, by pulling downward and back and forth on the shoelaces with her feet, she created enough friction to wear away part of the ziptie, making it weak enough to snap right off her hands.

the best thing in all of homestuck is when we saw what the kids would be like if they didn’t play sburb and grew up, jade, rose, and dave all became dedicated anti fascists who literally rebelled against a dictatorship and murdered important members of the regime, while john literally was just A Stand Up Comedian

alpha john was probably a saboteur, because that is the sweetest prank of all. he was just good enough never to get caught, in part because he doesn’t have the strilonde urge to stab one’s enemies in the eyes and ride their corpses down a waterfall

Honestly my favorite part of Homestuck is that for a solid chunk of the story amongst all of the then-disguised characters harassing the then-main characters one in specifically deals with the main-est character backwards, so he starts out knowing everything about him and hating and insulting him and as we follow the main character his harasser gets less and less mad until it turns out that during their first conversation from the harasser’s side the main character is so used to him he acts friendly and the harasser asks him out, finds out he’s straight, and promptly starts talking to him backwards in time for the sole purpose of being too embarrassed to talk to him with that knowledgeable and honestly same

Well out of the blue I just remembered today the time I accidentally joined the cast of a production of The Princess Bride….in the middle of the production.

And you’re gonna just leave us there

I mean, if you guys wanna hear the story, it is a pretty fun one

Okay, so this is what happened,

Some years ago (6? 7 years ago, I think?) there was a pirate exhibit at the state museum. We had actual artifacts from the Queen Anne’s Revenge, creepy wax dummies, historical costumes etc, it was awesome.

I was really into Pirates of the Caribbean at the time, because I played the mmorpg with some high school friends of mine (and some of their parents sometimes, who also got addicted to it), so of course when they announced “Pirate Night at the Museum”, in which visitors were encouraged to dress up, I was over the moon. So I’m there with my friends, my parents, and my sisters, running around the exhibits after the museum is technically closed.

They replaced the creepy wax dummies with people in costume at this point, and it was pretty epic.

The highlight of the night would be a showing of The Princess Bride. The movie would play on the big screen while actors would be on a stage below, acting the whole thing out word for word and shot for shot as it happened. Any audience members who knew lines were encouraged to shout them out as they heard them.

Here’s the thing. My parents love that movie. Like you don’t understand they were quoting it to us in its entirety when we were still in highchairs. I could reenact the battle of wits scene before I ever actually watched it. So my family sits in the front row, behind the railing, quoting everything right along with the actors and film.

And then comes the part in the Pit of Despair with the Albino.
And the cast didn’t have anyone on the stage with Wesley
I don’t know if the Albino couldn’t make it that night, or if they’d never cast him, but it was really weird to see Wesley just lying on the stage awkwardly while the Albino is supposed to be treating his injuries.

I started twitching. My mom and sister look at me and they’re like “do it.” And one of the ushers is like “you know the part? do it”

So I launch over the railing, run up onto the stage, and take over from there, doing my best impression of the character. Being that I was a 5′2″ blonde girl in a corset and puffy sleeves, Wesley had some trouble keeping a straight face.

Then they got to the scene with Humperdink telling the guard to clear out the Thieves’ Forest, and…they didn’t have the guard either. So my twin sister up in the audience is like “hang on, I got this” and then she launches over the railing to make sure Humperdink isn’t just sitting awkwardly talking to thin air.

This meant that yes, I got bopped on the noggin by Fezzik, and yes, my sister got to do the
Give us the key.”
What key?”
Fezzik, tear his arms off.”
Oh, you mean this key!”

They made up stay on stage and take a bow with the cast when it was over, it was hilarious. Then the next year, since they still had the exhibit, the museum called my sister and was like, “So….that was super fun last year. Do you and your sister want to be audience plants and do it again this year?”

The answer, naturally, was heck yes. Since we had new volunteers playing Count Rugen and Inigo this time, this also led to my sister actually choreographing their fight scene herself. Which was awesome.

My favorite part is that this is entirely in tone  for Princess Bride.

Throughout the years, a lot of feminist critiques have panned Cinderella, including Emma Watson most recently, claiming that she’s a subservient doormat who lacks agency and waits for a man to save her throughout the course of her film. This criticism is null and void because Cinderella never once mentions wanting to find romantic love or wanting to meet the prince before attending the ball. This theory circulating, that many people have mindlessly reiterated, speculating that Cinderella planned to go to the ball to be saved by the prince is completely unfounded on the grounds that Cinderella ended up leaving the ball at midnight without so much as giving her name and, on screen, she verbally indicates that she had no idea the man she danced with the night prior was the prince at least three times. Ilene Woods, the original voice actress of Cinderella who had a lot of input into the development of the character, stated, “[Cinderella] was kind of spunky. She accepted life as it was and went after things she wanted. I think she was a spirited girl. I don’t think she needed the prince. I think she wanted to go to the ball and that was it at the moment. Then the prince wanted her and vice versa.”

cinderella just wanted to take a night off work and go to a party. the fact that she met a rich guy there doesn’t mean that was her life plan. it was a happy accident.
