i know because i asked one of his security guys about it and he said “i can’t confirm or deny anything like that” which we all know is basically a confession
yeah, they’re very encouraged to toxic rivalry, distrust and only thinking your quadrants and those affecting them (so, quadrant corners, MAYBE) are relevant (THANKS DOC SCRATCH), so i’m really feeling the parallel to toxic masculinity. i mean, vriska and eridan are acting like their behavior is the epitome of a cool, admirable troll. and terezi was destroyed after she killed vriska, even though she felt she wasn’t supposed to be. like. dude. the whole alternia setup is trying its best to create an army, not a coherent people. no intergenerational bonding, and the only parallel bonds allowed are romantic ones and tons of propaganda about their glorious empire. it’s way easier to make people feel like everyone (else) is disposable like that.
A depressed guy moves into a haunted house with 7 demons, each corresponding to a deadly sin. But, they’re all trying to help him get back on his feet; Pride helps with self confidence, Lust helps him get laid, etc.
I would watch the crap outta this like wow
Envy: “Glut, back off the guy, okay?”
Gluttony: “I’m just saying he could stand to gain a few pounds! I made spaghetti!”
Sloth: “After we eat, it’s gonna be time for a nice nap. We’ve earned it!”

Just imagine the Catholic Church making a statement regarding this new tv show.

Let’s say, just for the sake of argument, that ancient humans were utilitarian social darwinists; that anyone sick, anyone injured, anyone disabled, anyone who couldn’t support themself was left to die.
Who invented canes?
If anyone who fell behind was left behind, then how did my cripple forebears who held themselves up with broken branches survive to teach future generations how?
Who invented surgery?
What sadistic ancient motherfucker looked at another person in perfect health, and decided to cut them open and take something out of them?
How did humanity survive?
Babies can’t even stand for their first 11 months. Who gathered food for the breastfeeding parent, and by extension the child who could do nothing except consume resources they couldn’t repay?
Now let’s say that you’re wrong.
Once again, for the sake of argument, let’s say humans have always helped each other. Suddenly, everything makes perfect sense and you are just an asshole.
