I aspire to be as petty as Taylor Hall

Taylor has been pretty honest this season with talking about how difficult the trade was for him and how he’s had a hard time adjusting to New Jersey. I transcribed some of it here. But look at this character development between this year and last year:

You can see that he had a hard time letting go until this past summer, when he finally came to terms with accepting the trade. And he’s spoken a lot with Amanda Stein about how Coach Hynes actually communicates with him now, which is a change for him

In the podcast I linked, Taylor talks about how in Edmonton, the coaches never talked to him except when he was doing poorly, and he highlighted coach-player communication as one of the most positive things about being traded to the Devils. I mean, it’s mostly stuff that we know already: that Edmonton doesn’t have good player development. Taylor led the team in points in half the seasons he was in Edmonton (and he was top 3 always), but he was never given the support he needed. I don’t really see him as petty; I see him as honest
