Justin creating Taako as a character who grew up alone and who thus has some anxiety over not having anyone to rely on could be interpreted as Justin exploring his own feelings of loneliness and abandonment over his brothers leaving him behind in their home town. This is one of the central points of Taako’s character and Griffin gets a lot of grief, mostly jokingly, over hijacking Taako’s backstory and giving him a sibling who’d been there for him the entire time. But this could also be interpreted as Griffin telling his brother ‘you’re not alone, you’ve never been alone, we’re here for you and we have your back’.
