why jasico makes sense to me

tbh i almost shipped jasico before i got into hoo b/c one of my best friends is really into the ship and really into the series (or was pre boo l m a o) but once i read their key scenes and just the general feel (namely hoh let’s be real) i was just struck with how Good they are for each other
so many people have written amazing meta for jasico but the biggest reasons i love them together:

– jason is one of maybe three people in the entire series who genuinely cares about nico’s well-being and wants him to be happy
– jason is also one of the only people nico let’s in after a while (and with hazel it’s because they’re siblings so really what jason accomplishes with nico is incredible – on par with reyna)
– jason finds out nico’s secret through his forced coming out and immediately understands why nico is so withdrawn and jaded and Accepts him without question, going so far as to defend him to his closest friends (defending this kid who hasn’t exactly been nice to him when the kid isn’t even around like man i love jason grace okay)
– they’re both hella strong fighters and nico is two years younger so imagine them a little older like nico is canonically one of the strongest fighters but imagine him staying at camp and eating properly and maybe sleeping a little more and nico knocking jason on his ass during a sparring match b/c nico is just That Good and instead of jason being grumpy he’s just so SO impressed like ‘how did you get so good’ ‘i spent a lot of time fighting by myself’ ‘gods, nico. you’re incredible! show me how to do that!’
– jason is an over-sized puppy but he would so go protective guard dog if anyone said anything bad about nico like man okay and nico would be like ‘i don’t need you to fight my battles, grace’ and jason would be like ‘no, you don’t, but i want to fight by your side anyway’
– nico calls jason out on his shit and treats him like everyone else (when a lot of people put jason on a pedestal, nico doesn’t)
– they both have heavy family issues (including dead mothers and being abandoned by their sisters – though not by the sisters volition) so given the chance they could be so good for each other in supporting each other in that healing process
– they’re both children of the Big Three so they know the burdens of carrying the title (though they’ve had opposite experiences – jason was idolized and nico was demonized but both were just as isolated)
– canonically jason is the only person (other than his sister and reyna) that nico lets touch him…..
– jason respects nico’s boundaries and never belittles his mental health issues (unlike some people………)

k like honestly i could go on for so long i’m sorry about this but here are some of the reasons – basically this is My Ship b/c they are so so SO good for each other and had a lot of canon buildup and they are actually so similar and if given the chance they could support each other so well and i’m sorry this turned into an essay
